Tumblr has a large network of connected users on its base, which can be used to distribute news and promote causes such as protests or ongoing efforts of oppressed peoples. Users are fueled by interest to ‘follow’ one another, sending out a chain reaction of awareness through ‘reblogging’ and thus amplifying the message.

STEP 2. On the top of the ‘Dashboard’ (http://www.tumblr.com/dasboard) there are 7 posting options

step 3. With Tumblr, you can allow submissions so that other bloggers/activists can contribute to your blog. After they submit their entry, you decide whether or not to publish their post.

a.To allow this feature, either go to www.tumblr.com/blog/BLOGNAME/settings, or click on your blog title at the top of the page (indicated by the arrow) then click on blog settings on the right side of the screen. Scroll down until you see the “Submissions” box on the left side of the screen and check the box that says “Let people submit posts”

Now, other online activists can submit posts to your blog, which may include personal stories

•“People can tell a personal story anonymously by mobile phone, either with a voice call or a text message. These stories can then be sent from their phones to your campaign, or uploaded directly from their phones and shared on one website.” (10 Tactics)

STEP 4. Questions are a great way for people to get informed and Tumblr’s “ask” feature allows users to ask each other questions.

a.To use this feature, go the “Blog Settings” page and scroll down to the “Ask” section. Check the box that says “Let people ask questions”

Other bloggers can ask you questions regarding the issue to become more informed and perhaps inspire and mobilize their followers.

•Asking questions “is good for getting vital information to people when popular information sources are incomplete or misleading, or when other forms of direct communication are difficult.” (10 Tactics)
