Ann Kidder
Ann graduated in 2008 from Brown University with a B.A. with honors in International Relations. Her thesis examined mobile phone aided protests and mass mobilizations. Ann's interest in mobile took her first to Seoul, Korea where she worked for the Korean Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. In 2010, Ann moved to New York to take a job with Google. There she manages telecom, healthcare, and travel campaigns on YouTube, as well as global marketing programs such as YouTube Symphony Orchestra and Copa America.
Asch Harwood
Asch Harwood currently works in the Africa program at the Council on Foreign Relations as a research associate. He received his Master’s Degree in International Affairs from the New School in 2009, where he conducted research on human organ trafficking in Nepal and global economic governance reform. He also recently completed the UN-mandated University for Peace Summer Institute on Peace and Technology. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in 2003 from McGill University, he toured the United States and Canada as professional musician. Asch currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Ashiyan Rahmani-Shirazi
Ash studies 'Software Engineering' (M.Sc.) part-time at Kellogg College, Oxford - www.kellogg.ox.ac.uk & his thesis is on CyberSecurity at www.bic.org, a UN affiliated NGO. He is currently a Wheat Atlas Intern/Consultant at www.cimmyt.org in Mexico and also does part-time work selling software services from China with www.ascertica.com, as well as volunteer project work with NGO's & non-profits, including movements.org. Ash previously studied 'International Politics & Computer Science' as an undergraduate at Keele University, UK - www.keele.ac.uk & an M.A. in 'The Chinese Business World' at SOAS, London - www.soas.ac.uk. He has approx. 15 years working experience, including teaching, IT & with both for and non-profit organizations, including 7 years spent in China. He speaks intermediate Chinese & Farsi and enjoys traveling, drumming, singing, swimming/diving & playing football/tennis & with gadgets, including mobile device projects. 'Ash is a vegetarian and a member of the Baha'i Faith (www.bahai.org), for which he strives to actively participate in community development.' Brannon Cullum
Brannon Cullum completed her Master's Degree in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University in May 2010. Her research primarily focused on the use of mobile technologies in international development projects. Brannon also contributed a chapter to the first book published on digital activism, "Digital Activism Decoded," and is working with the Meta-Activism Project to develop a Global Digital Activism Data Set. Prior to entering graduate school, Brannon worked as a middle school teacher in Austin, Texas. She received her B.A. in American Studies from Stanford University in 2004. Prior to attending Columbia, Hulpachova was News Editor at The Prague Post, and English-language newspaper in the Czech Republic. Matt Mulberry is an independent writer out of Washington, D.C. with a focus on civil resistance and social movements. He also works closely with the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict supporting various content development initiatives. He has a B.A in Journalism from Susquehanna University and is a graduate from the 2011 School of Authentic Journalism, a school aiming to teach journalists the skills needed for effectively cover nonviolent struggle.
